Next two days should be sunny…

Bikes and bruises

The past few weeks have been interesting, to say the least. A few days of riding is always a great to waste a day.

I finally got the chance to make another 8 hour race. After the last one in January, I was looking forward to better riding and, of course, better weather. The day started foggy, but soon cleared into a beautiful, partly cloudy day with fluffy clouds you can only find in GA. (L.A. has nothing on our skies! ;) ) Sure, it was a bit hot. It was still better than the freezing temps and ice of January.

The track started a little muddy and cleared up nice. Even though a few hours into the race, a few gnarly roots started to provide random bumps, the track held up very well! I started loosing my clutch about half way through the day. After giving the bike (and myself) a quick break every now and then, the clutch got me through the race!

I got to see some great guys I hadn’t seen in months! I also ended up pitting next to two great teams that kept up the encouragement/trash talking all day. At the end of the day, we were all pretty tired and a few of us left the dirtiest bunch of trophied I’d seen in a while. Good times.

Pit Row

A few days later, I had a chance to take the 250 out. On a nice, sunny day at the track, I apparently had a subconcious thought it would be fun to go poaching because a deer walked out in front of me on a downhill jump. Once he was on the track, he was in no hurry to move. Quick grab on the brakes and a few rough ruts to help stop, I missed the big guy… and snapped a bushing in half. After the attempt at poaching, which seemed like 5 minutes and more realistically was 5 seconds, I finished the day on a few quick trails and called it a day. The careless part of me just wanted to ride and not worry about any extra damage I could have done. Haha.

Which leads me to the next weekend - a day of almost all jumps…. So. Much. Fun.

I arrived at the park late. Probably due to some crazy reason for not getting enough sleep and poking around all morning. Anyway… I make it with about 10 minutes to get ready and the rush is on not to be late! We all know how awesome being in a hurry can be… ugh. After losing my socks, I made it just on time to get started.

My planned morning turned into a full day. We spent most of the morning jumping a few logs (read = trees, haha). After a quick lunch break, the muddy spots had cleared and we were off to the track! The next few hours were working on two smaller jumps, a tabletop, and a downhill. It was so much fun!! I think the downhill was probably my favorite of the day. Unfortunately, a “small” crash while riding has led to my beautifully swollen leg and early morning MRI later this week. Anyway… sticking to the jumps caused me to keep too busy to get to ride and hang out with a few friends, but I hope to see them again soon.

Oh yeah, and Coggins definitely gets pic of the day!

Btw, finished my last few books. Open to suggestions again!

Mid-West Travels and Best of Show

I spent a few days in part of the mid west covering Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. All were great places to visit. Chicago speaks for itself and Rosebud Trattoria was amazing for a dinner. There was Saturday night motocross in Delta. We spent some time in South Bend (Notre Dame!) and plenty of great scenery while driving.

Road Trip

However, one place in particular sticks out and it is easy to see why.

A friend was looking for a new car and we took another four hour trip to a place called Best of Show in Mentor, Ohio. First comment about these guys – worth the drive!! Best of Show is an amazing show room. They have so many cars to choose from and all are gorgeously pristine. Their collection includes multiple GTO’s, Challengers, Mustangs, Camaros, Willy’s, Road Runners, bikes… the list goes on. It really is like going to a car museum, but with the best part – they are all for sale!! Here are a couple of my favorite pics.

For those days you are feeling extra gangster…

While checking out this car, got my pic snapped. This Continental (with suicide doors, of course!) is one of my favorite cars of all time. I was stoked to see they had one!

NYC and Gumball 3000

Last week, I ended up taking off to NYC to check out the last part of Gumball 3000 and see a few friends.

Started off the trip meeting a few people and headed to Little Italy for some late lunch at Rocky’s. Summer in Italy was delicious like a creamsicle! After the good zitti we walked around til we found an interesting small bar for drinks and to catch up. Forgot the name of it though.

A few new pieces of clothes and we were off to Times Square to check out the last of the Gumball cars arrive. Took a few pictures once everyone was parked.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a true trip if there wasn’t a picture of me somewhere making weird faces.

The next day, a few of us took the more tourist-y route. Every time I have been to New York, I never took time to see the town as tourists get to. I am glad it was suggested. However, when we took the ferry to the statue and Ellis Island, we got stuck on the boat for far too long. Sunburned and exhausted, we finally made it back to the hotel to get cleaned up for one last night. And what a fun and memorable night it was!

Empire State Building

Statue of Liberty

Nice to see an old friend again – it had been far too long, Mr. Grand! Peroni, Corona… same thing and cash only ; ). Made a few new friends and had a really great time. Can’t wait to see you guys again.

A bit ago, I had a shoot with DG. Here are a few quick shots. The first is unedited, but the second two have an old photo edit I’m kinda diggin. Also, this is the only shoot I’ve done with fishnet. Fun! Enjoy!

Today is one of those “down a few red bulls while figuring out what needs to be done before I leave town… again” kind of days. Or something like that. Starting it off right jamming Rancid and US Bombs. The past few days have been busy, busy, busy.

Travel plans are finalized for the next few weeks. Schedule pretty much looks like: bikes, travel, cars, bikes, travel, cars, bikes… and, well, you get the picture. I also have to throw in a little schooling. Some cool places to visit are coming up! Chicago, New York, Indy, and a few small towns in between. I am really looking forward to Indy and seeing a few pristine classics.  Keeping in spirit of the upcoming trips, I took a few new shots of this Chevelle.

SS

Love this car.

Weather permitting, there will also be some big bike time before the next trip. Hmm… trying new jumps on a new bike… calculated risk? Definitely not. I’m just going for it. What’s the worst that could happen? ; )

Black Kids are definitely in the list for jams to rock out. Partie Traumatic is a great album and one of my favorite songs is “I’m Making Eyes At You”.

Check out another one of their videos for “I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend To Dance With You”

Powdered wigs and big dresses.
